Jack Segal, a
classic Great American Songbook composer and one of Jan Daley’s late mentors,
had nothing but good things to say about Daley’s smooth jazz music. Segal described Daley as, “a truly talented
musician, singer, and lyricist.” He’s
not the only one- Frank Sinatra was known to have said, “She’s got it!” when
speaking of Daley and Louis Armstrong is quoted saying she has a, “big
beautiful voice.” Daley’s classic smooth jazz sound will resonate with all
generations of jazz lovers and is absolutely worth checking out.
Jan Daley’s
album, “When Sunny Gets Blue,” is a rendition of many Great American Songbook
tunes. The title song was written by the
aforementioned Jack Segal. Segal was one
of the key people who encouraged Daley to attempt this smooth jazz
album in the first place and it was likely due to his teachings that the album
turned out to be so phenomenal.
